Run The Race

Hey guys, still remember the theme of our camp this year? If you had forgotten let me just refresh your memory, our theme was Amazing Race and the theme verse were from Hebrews 12:1-2 "Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God."

Well how's things going on in life now? Remember that the race start after the camp? So have u actually started the race? Are you still running? Are you exhausted already? Are you enduring even though you are tired? Had u fell and hurt yourself? Are you standing back up after the fall or sitting there crying all day long? What are you fixing your eye on? Anyone out there supporting you in the race?

As for me I can honestly tell that I am only running at a very slow pace.(or maybe just walking) That's because while running the race I was distracted by all the beautiful scenery, my shoelace got untied, I tripped and fell, got worn out by the hot sun, and when it's raining, heavily I lost my direction due to the blurry vision and headed to the wrong direction.

Despite all that I am still thankful for one thing, that is I am still in the race, I had not quite or gave up on the race although many trial and distraction are ahead of me, because one thing i know is that, no matter I am the first or the last to finish the race, I still will receive a prize as promised by God, with the condition as long as we never give up and are still running the race till we reach the finishing line.

2 Timothy 4:7-8 "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing."

"Jesus has already run the race and rewards those who follow in his footsteps to the finish. Winning isn’t the issue, for we have already been promised the prize. All we need to do is to get in and run the race to completion."(Meghan Kleppinger)

Intersecting Faith & Life: You may not be the fastest runner, and that is okay because the race of faith set before us is one of endurance, not speed. Build up your strength through prayer, studying and meditating on God's Word.

Take care my brothers and sisters, may God bless us richly each time we ask Him to help us in our race, and remember it's not all about winning, it's all about completing the race.

I WILL RUN TO YOU

Abiding in the Vine

Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me."I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” John 15:4-5

One thing you’ll never see is a fruit factory. Now, you’ll see factories for making clothing, cars, and computers, but not a fruit factory. Instead fruit is grown in an orchard. It is dependent upon life. There is no fruit without life.

The only way that fruit is going to ripen and grow is in the right climate and with the right nutrients. Just as we can’t grow bananas in Alaska, we can’t grow and produce the fruit of the Spirit unless we’re in the place where the Spirit can produce His fruit in us.

And that place is walking and abiding in the Spirit.

Read Galatians 5:22-25 today and ask God to help you abide in the Spirit to produce the fruit He desires in your life. "

Something to share

Well I guess what I can do to update this blog more frequently is by sharing my devotion or meaningful article I read from some useful website.

I read a short simple article and felt very encouraged by it.I learn how to see things in a more Godly persepctive, and learn not to follow the worldly view and values which will only make us feel miserable. Here goes the article extracted from http://www.crosswalk.com/devotionals/LoveWorthFinding/11581436/

God Keeps the Score

“And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.” Ephesians 4:32

I read something that deeply touched my heart about a PGA golfer named DiVensenzo.
As he was leaving a golf course with his winnings, a woman approached him and said, “I have a baby who is dying.” Moved with compassion, he endorsed the check and gave it to her saying, “Take this, and try to buy some happiness for yourself and your child.”

A week later, he was in the clubhouse having lunch, and one of the PGA officials came up to him and said, “Did you know that the woman who approached you last week didn’t have a baby dying of an incurable disease!” And DiVensenzo said, “There’s no baby dying? That’s the best news I’ve heard all week!”

What an attitude!

Do you ever feel like people are going to take advantage of you? Be thankful today that God keeps the score. "

Take time to appreciate what you have now

On the last day before Christmas, I hurried to go to the supermarket to buy the remaining of the gift I didn't manage to buy earlier.

When I saw all the people there, I started to complain to myself, "It is going to take forever here and I still have so many other places to go.

Christmas really is getting more and more annoying every year. How I wish I could just lie down, go to sleep and only wake up after it..."

Nonetheless, I made my way to the toy section, and there I started to curse the prices, wondering if after all kids really playwith such expensive toys.

While looking in the toy section, I noticed a small boy of about 5 years old, pressing a doll against his chest. He kept on touching the hair of the doll and looked so sad. I wondered who was this doll for. Then the little boy turned to the old woman next to him, "Granny, are you sure I don't have enough money?"

The old lady replied, "You know that you don't have enough money to buy this doll, my dear."

Then she asked him to stay here for 5 minutes while she went to look around. She left quickly. The little boy was still holding the doll in his hand.

Finally, I started to walk toward him and I asked him who did he want to give this doll to."It is the doll that my sister loved most and wanted so much for this Christmas. She was so sure that Santa Claus would bring it to her."

I replied to him that may be Santa Claus will bring it to her, after all, and not to worry. But he replied to me sadly. "No, Santa Claus can not bring it to her where she is now. I have to give the doll to my mother so that she can give it to her when she goes there."His eyes were so sad while saying this. "My sister has gone to be with God. Daddy says that Mummy will also go to see God very soon, so I thought that she could bring the doll with her to give it to my sister."

My heart nearly stopped. The little boy looked up at me and said, "I told daddy to tell mummy not to go yet. I asked him to wait until I come back from the supermarket." Then he showed me a very nice photo of him where he was laughing. He then told me, "I also want mummy to take this photo with her so that she will not forget me." I love my mummy and I wish she doesn't have to leave me but daddy says that she has to go to be with my little sister." Then he looked again at the doll with sad eyes, very quietly. I quickly reached for my wallet and took a few notes and said to the boy, "What if we checked again, just in case if you have enough money?"

"Ok," he said. "I hope that I have enough."

I added some of my money to his without him seeing and we started to count it. There was enough for the doll, and even some spare money. The little boy said, "Thank you God for giving me enough money." Then he looked at me and added, "I asked yesterday before I slept for God to make sure I have enough money to buy this doll so that mummy can give it to my sister. He heard me." "I also wanted to have enough money to buy a white rose for my mummy, but I didn't dare to ask God too much. But He gave me enough to buy the doll and the white rose."

"You know, my mummy loves white rose."

A few minutes later, the old lady came again and I left with my trolley. I finished my shopping in a totally different state from when I started. I couldn't get the little boy out of my mind.

Then I remembered a local newspaper article 2 days ago, which mentioned of a drunk man in a truck who hit a car where there was one young lady and a little girl. The little girl died right away, and the mother was left in a critical state. The family had to decide whether to pull the plug on the life-assisting machine, because the young lady would not be able to get out of the coma.

Was this the family of the little boy?

Two days after this encounter with the little boy, I read in the newspaper that the young lady had passed away.I couldn't stop myself and went to buy a bunch of white roses and I went to the mortuary where the body of the young woman was exposed for people to see and make last wish before burial.

She was there, in her coffin, holding a beautiful white rosein her hand with the photo of the little boy and the doll placed over her chest.I left the place crying, feeling that my life had been changed forever. The love that this little boy had for his mother and his sister is still, to that day, hard to imagine. And in a fraction of a second, a drunk man had taken all this away from him.

There are two character in this story. The man and the boy. The man start out being stressful and fasturated with the holidays because of all the thing he has to do. He is obviously not happy. But in the end of the story he found some happiness by helping the boy. From here we see that happiness do not always come by getting stuff for ownself but it may come more easily from helping others.*Reminder Galatians 6:10 "Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers."* So we should keep on helping others you can find it very rewarding.=)

For the boy he is strong and faithful at a young age.He do not condemm God or blaming God for taking away his family but from the accident his faith grew even stronger and firm. He fear God as he do not dare to ask God for what he want and not what he need. He pray for help and humble himself infront of God. And God kept his word as in Proverb 30:5 "God keeps every promise he makes. He is like a shield for all who seek his protection." God gave the boy what he need and even more. And lastly the story urge us not the drink and drive because it kills. How nice if all of us have the faith this little boy has it him?

So let our faith grow like mustard seeds.....

The Simple Truth of Service

I found a very inspiring, touching and encouraging true story that are relevant with our youth camp theme “Making A Difference”, and would like to share with everyone out there. It is “The Simple Truth of Service”

THE SIMPLE TRUTH OF SERVICE

This is a true story as told by Barbara Glanz, CSP

A few years ago, I was hired by a large supermarket chain to lead a customer service program, to build customers loyalty. During my speech I said : “ Everyone of you can make a difference and create memories for your customers that will motivate them to come back. How? Put your personal signature on the job. Think about something you can do for your customer to make them feel special, a memory that will make them come back.”

About a month after I had spoken, I receive a call from a nineteen year old bagger named Johnny. He proudly informed me that he was a Down Syndrome individual and told me his story.

“I like what you talked about” he said, “But at first I though I couldn’t do anything special for our customers. After all I am just a bagger.” “Then I had an idea!” said Johnny “Every night after work I’ve come home and find a thought for the day. If I can’t find a saying I like” He added “I just think one up”

When Johnny had a good thought for the day, his dad helped him set it up on the computer and print multiple copies. Johnny cut out each quote and signed his name on the back. Then he brings them to work the next day. “When I finish bagging someone’s groceries, I put my thought for the day inside their beg and say thanks for shopping with us”

It touches me to think that this young man with a job most people would say not important had made it important by creating precious memories for all his customers. A month later the store manager called me ….. “You wouldn’t believe what happened. When I was making my rounds today, I found Johnny’s checkout line was three times longer than anyone else’s! It went all the way down to the frozen food aisle. So I quickly announce, ‘We need more cashiers; get more lanes open!’ As I tried to get more people to change lanes, but no one would come. They said ‘its okay, we want to be in Johnny’s lane, we want his thought for the day’

The store manager continued, “It was a joy to watch Johnny delight the customers. I got a lump in my throat when one woman said ‘I used to shop at your store once a week, but now I come in every time I go by, because I want to get Johnny’s Thought for the day.’

A few months later, the manager called me up again….. “Johnny had transformed our store, now when the floral department has a broken flower or unused corsage; they find an elderly lady or a little girl and pin it on them. Everyone’s having a lot of fun creating memories, our customers are talking about us, and they are coming back, and bringing their friends.”

A wonder spirit of service spread throughout the entire store…. All because of Johnny choose to make a difference!

Johnny’s wasn’t nearly as innovative, as it was loving, it came from his heart, it was real. That’s what touches his customers, his peers…. And those who read this story. Great service comes from great heart…..

WILL YOU BE A JOHNNY TODAY?

The highlight of this story is about Johnny, a nineteen year old Down Syndrome, who only work as a bagger, yet able to touch life and make a big difference for the supermarket. All this is because of his service that came from his heart.

After reading this true story, I was amaze and I learned a few things from this meaningful story.

Johnny was a down syndrome, yet nothing stops him from touching the life of others.

His sincerity not only touches the life of his customer, but his peer was also making a difference because of what Johnny did. Customers come back more frequent and they bring their friend along.

Now if each one of us as a Christian would have the sincerity and the love that was displayed by Johnny, imagine how we could make a different in this world.

Now just imagine that the supermarket was our church, the customers were our unbeliever friends and the peers were our brothers and sisters in Christ. Wouldn’t it be great if we could have an impact in the world? Wouldn’t it be great if people were able to see Christ in us and come to know the Lord? Wouldn’t it be great if people felt warm and welcome when they come to our church? Wouldn’t it be great to see people coming back to our church and bringing friends along? Wouldn’t it be great to be able to set a good example and motivate our brothers and sisters in Christ?

As written in the story above “Johnny action was not as innovative as others, but it was the love that comes from the bottom of his heart and it was real” If Johnny a down syndrome could do that, then how difficult could it be for us to serve others? All we have to do is to display the love of God to others and serve them with a sincere heart.

So fellow brothers and sisters now’s the time we ask our self the question “Would you be a Johnny today?” , let us not forget what we learn in camp and continues to Make A Difference 4 Jesus.

Crazy Frogs

FROGS
Once upon a time there was a bunch of tiny frogs.... who arranged a running competition. The goal was to reach the top of a very high tower.
A big crowd had gathered around the tower to see the race and cheer on the contestants....
The race began....
Honestly:
No one in crowd really believed that the tiny frogs would reach the top of the tower.
You heard statements such as:
"Oh, WAY too difficult!!"
"They will NEVER make it to the top."
or:
"Not a chance that they will succeed. The tower is too high!"
The tiny frogs began collapsing. One by one....
Except for those, who in a fresh tempo, were climbing higher and higher....
The crowd continued to yell, "It is too difficult!!! No one will make it!"
More tiny frogs got tired and gave up....
But ONE continued higher and higher and higher....
This one wouldn't give up!

At the end everyone else had given up climbing the tower. Except for the one tiny frog who, after a big effort, was the only one who reached the top!
THEN all of the other tiny frogs naturally wanted to know how this one frog managed to do it?
A contestant asked the tiny frog how he had found the strength to succeed and reach the goal?
It turned out....

That the winner was DEAF!!!!
The wisdom of this story is: Never listen to other people's tendencies to be negative or pessimistic.... because they take your most wonderful dreams and wishes away from you -- the ones you have in your heart!
Always think of the power words have. Because everything you hear and read will affect your actions!
Therefore: ALWAYS be....POSITIVE! And above all: Be DEAF when people tell YOU that you cannot fulfill your dreams!

ECCLESIASTES 7:20 There is no one on earth who does what is right all the time and never makes a mistake. So we just need to learn from mistake or failure and If you fall down 10 times,Stand up 11.
ECCLESIASTES 7:21 Don't pay attention to everything people say-you may hear your servant insulting you. Many insulting words will come into our life. But we have to stay strong and DEAF when these things happen. As brother Keng Lik beautifully put it into words : let us persevere in serving God, obeying his commands and teachings, never give up even though we might face trials and failures. Remember all we have to do to win this race is RISE EACH TIME WE FALL.
